Remember Easter is far more than just the Bank Holiday weekend. Easter is a big holiday getaway time for so many families with a whole 2 weeks off.
It needn’t be a huge expensive getaway though as just a few days can be a nice break during the 2 weeks, a chance to send some quality family time together and embrace the spring weather and longer days.
The second week of the holidays is always a great time to spend a few days away once the Bank Holiday lot have gone back to work. But in the Lake District still has a packed programme of events and activities scheduled and none more so than at the Rheged Centre at Penrith, a location for any day, any weather.
Easter is always a particularly good time to visit Rheged with daily Easter activities and a whole host of attractions, other events and exhibitions. There’s still the chance to view Terry Abraham’s Scafell Pike – Life of a Mountain and maybe get the kids inspired to climb England’s highest peak and there’s also the Herdwick – A Portrait of Lakeland photographic exhibition on, a very worthwhile and very topical being lambing season right now.
Handy accommodation for exploring the whole area can be found at Rheged’s sister hotel just down the road, the Tebay Services Hotel. Family rooms, local food, a relaxed atmosphere and with easy access both from the north and south makes it a great Easter break destination.
Another bonus of staying at the Tebay Services Hotel is Tebay Services itself. Stock up on goodies to take home or for snacks when out and about during the stay. It now holds a coveted 5 stars awarded by VisitEngland too and along with the hotel, it’s hard to believe it is a motorway services with the quality of food and service on offer and the stunning, interrupted views of the Cumbrian fells.
